Our buffers are primarily made from calcified red algae (lithothamnium). Lithothamnium grows on the ocean floor and is naturally rich in minerals such as calcium, magnesium, and more than seventy trace elements. One of the strongest and most mineral-rich varieties grows off the coast of Iceland. The microporous honeycomb structure of lithothamnium, with a surface area of 12 m² per gram, provides a large attachment area, improving digestion and enhancing the absorption of vitamins, minerals, and trace elements. Additionally, this slowly absorbable source of calcium helps optimize rumen pH, creating a balanced environment for the rumen microflora.
